2) Proud sponsor of the 2012 Scotties Curling Tournament of Hearts

Studon is proud to be a gold level sponsor and supporter of the 2012 Scotties Curling Tournament of Hearts. Bringing the tournament home to Red Deer for 2012 is a major accomplishment for the city and we are more than happy to see back in Alberta since last hosted in Lethbridge, 2007.

Scotties Tournament of Hearts features some of the best Canadian curlers, all competing for top spot. Curling in Canada is celebrated as one of the nations favourite past-times and we are excited to be apart of and to see this event continue the tradition.

3) Studon awarded Dow Chemicals Maintenance contract

Studon is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Dow Chemicals Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance contract for both their Fort Saskatchewan and Prentiss facilities, which comprise Dow Canada’s Alberta Operations.

Dow connects chemistry and innovation to address challenging problems such as the need for clean water, renewable energy generation and conservation, and increasing agricultural productivity. Their diversified industry-leading portfolio delivers a broad range of technology-based products and solutions to their customers. The Fort Saskatchewan site forms one of the largest petrochemical complexes in Canada and the Prentiss, Alberta manufacturing location is home to a Dow-operated polyethylene plant, and two world-scale ethylene glycol plants operated by MEGlobal.

4) Studon awarded Nova Chemicals Instrumentation contract

Studon is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Nova Chemicals Instrumentation maintenance contract. Studon has been doing the electrical maintenance at the Joffre site for over 10 years and are please to announce the addition of the instrumentation maintenance – a long time goal of Studon’s.
NOVA Chemicals’ Joffre manufacturing facility is one the largest ethylene and polyethylene production complexes in the world. The site actually consists of five manufacturing facilities: three for ethylene production and two for polyethylene production.

 

5) Studon signs MSA with Meg Energy Corp

Studon is proud to announce that we have been awarded the MSA (Master Service Agreement) for Small Projects at Meg Energy's Christina Lake facility. The contract requires Studon to maintain a full time crew on site effective immediately to help manage MEG's growth plans.

MEG Energy Corp. (“MEG”) is focused on sustainable in situ oil sands development and production in the southern Athabasca region of Alberta, Canada. MEG is actively developing enhanced oil recovery projects using SAGD extraction methods.

Studon's vast SAGD experience and ongoing local presence in the Conklin region were key factors in securing this contract.

 

6) “Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies” Regional Finalist

7) Multi-million Devon Jackfish II Project awarded to Studon

Devon Canada has awarded the electrical and instrumentation contract for phase II of their Devon Jackfish facility to Studon Electric and Controls. The success of phase I clearly demonstrated Studon's commitment and ability to meet construction timelines and safety targets.

The project management team, cost control abilities, and safety record were all cited as key reasons for awarding this multi-million dollar project to Studon.

 

8) 1.2 million safe hours worked without lost time

Studon's safety record continues with 1.2 million safe hours worked without a lost time incident. As part of our commitment to staff and clients, Studon promotes strict adherence to safe work practices - getting everyone home safely every day is a company priority.

Studon is recognized as a safety leader by Alberta Labour, Workplace Health and Safety, the Alberta Construction Safety Association, and the Canadian Society of Engineering among others.

 

9) Red Deer College "Studon lab" to be unveiled

Our president, Don Sutherland's involvement, and Studon's financial commitment have contributed to the building of the new Trades Wing at RDC and funds studies (through the Building Communities Through Learning Campaign) in both the Electrical and Instrumentation Technician Apprentice programs. These programs are for students with a solid academic standing who have demonstrated financial need and a demonstration of community involvement.

In recognition of Studon's ongoing contribution to educating future tradespeople, Red Deer College (RDC) will unveil the "Studon lab" late April.

 

10) ATCO Pipelines expands contract

ATCO Pipelines has recently expanded Studon's contract to include the Calgary office and central Alberta. Studon electric has worked hand in hand with ATCO's Edmonton division for over a decade, expanding this excellent working relationship to include Calgary and central Alberta was felt to be a logical "next step" by both parties.

Both ATCO and Studon are looking forward to recreating existing synergies between the two companies within Calgary and throughout central Alberta
