EXECUTIVE

Donald Sutherland
Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Sutherland co-founded Studon Electric & Controls Inc. in 1995 after a lengthy career working in the field, where he advanced from a first year apprentice to Master Electrician. Don has a reputation for excellence in the electrical industry from his hands-on experience as a journeyman and later as a project supervisor. Studon was founded with a motto of “People, Pride and Service”; these core values were applied to every project during his career and are a fundamental part of his approach to his current role as CEO of Studon. Don holds the position of Chairman of Studon’s Board of Directors in addition to his role as Board Chairman for a privately held technology and software company. 

Don is a proud member of the Red Deer community, and is a member of several local non-profit projects including his role as a fund-raiser and donor for Red Deer College “Building Communities Through Learning” program.

Andy Metzger, PMP
Vice President Operations 

Mr. Metzger was one of the first employees to join the Studon Electric & Controls Inc. team in 1996 as a Journeyman Electrician. From there, his role advanced from Field Operations into one of management during the company's growth cycle, and finally into his current role as Vice President Operations at Studon. Andy holds a Forest Technology Diploma that he received in 1991 from NAIT. He later obtained his Project Management Program diploma from the University of Alberta in 2006 and is a PMP member in good standing. Andy also completed a Construction Administration Program from the U of A in 2006. In addition, he obtained a Business Management Certificate from NAIT in 2003 and completed his Dale Carnegie program in 2002.

Damian Zapisocky, B. Comm., MBA, CA, CIA
Vice President & Chief Financial Officer 

Mr. Zapisocky joined the Studon team in 2006 as the company Controller, his career evolved and he now holds the position of Executive VP/CFO at Studon.

Damien is a University of Alberta graduate and holds a Bachelor of Commerce. He later articled at Deloitte in Edmonton where he obtained his CA designation. Damian joined Syncrude Canada in Ft. McMurray where he served in four capacities during his tenure. Damian completed his MBA in 2007 while employed at Studon. He also serves on the Board of Directors at Westerner Park in Red Deer and was honored with a 2009 Early Achievement Award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.

 

DIRECTORS

Mike Holitski
Director of Maintenance Services

Mr. Holitski obtained his Journeyman Trade certification in both the Instrumentation Technology and Electrician fields. Mike worked as Instrumentation Specialist with Imperial Oil and Home Oil before he founded Altech Controls where he was owner and President of the company. Mike worked at production facilities in Norman Wells, Liesmer, and Quirk Creek during his tenure in the field. Mike joined the Studon team in 2003 and is currently Director of Maintenance Services with Studon.

Rick Dezutter
Director of Construction Services

Mr. Dezutter is a Master Electrician who brings 25 years of experience as a construction coordinator, project manager, and branch manager to the Studon team. Rick’s field of expertise includes grass root and brown field construction, along with facility turnarounds and startups. Rick has built his leadership and team-building qualifications from actual field and supervisory experience that he has accumulated during his career. Ricks brings a wealth of real world experience to his role as Director of Construction Services at Studon.

Stuart Carson, B.A., B. Sc.
Director of HSE/QA/QC

Mr. Carson holds both a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Risk Management and is a Nationally Recognized Construction Safety Officer (NCSO). Stuart has over fourteen years of direct experience as a Health & Safety Specialist which he brings to his current role as Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality at Studon. Stuart has been with Studon since 2005 and been in this current position for the past six years.

Louie McCullagh, CHRP
Director of Human Relations 

Mr. McCullagh joined Studon Electric & Controls Inc. in 2000 and is a Certified Human Resources Professional with over 20 years of practical field experience. He became Director of Human Relations at Studon in 2010 and is a standing member of the Human Resources Institute of Alberta (HRIA). Louie believes that learning is a lifelong process and is heavily involved with Training and Development of the Studon workforce. In addition, Louie will receive his Labour Relations certificate from Queen’s University in May 2013.

Louie is heavily involved in the Red Deer community and is Studon’s official representative for the United Way.

Paul Lesley, B.Sc., MBA
Director of Sales & Marketing

Mr. Lesley became Director of Sales & Marketing in early 2013 and brings over 20 years of business management experience to this position at Studon. Paul’s experience includes pipeline operations, NGL facilities, supply and trading, SAGD development, new ventures and optimization strategies. Previously, Paul held the position of New Business Development Coordinator at Studon’s Corporate head office in Calgary. 

Paul holds holds an MBA, specializing in strategic planning and international trade, as well as a BSc, both from the University of Saskatchewan.
